Clashes and Airstrikes in Taiz Leave 38 Houthi Militants Killed or Wounded
The Taiz Military Axis announced on Thursday that 38 Houthi militants were killed or wounded during intense field confrontations and a series of five airstrikes targeting the group’s positions and gatherings across several fronts in the governorate.
According to the military media center, the operation resulted in the destruction of three military vehicles and a 14.5mm machine gun. The report, covering the past 24 hours, detailed that government forces, supported by the Popular Resistance, successfully repelled Houthi offensives on the Sabr front. The fighting was concentrated on the outskirts of Kahlan in Al-Masrakh district and the Al-Shaqab area of Sabr Al-Mawadim, where the attackers suffered significant casualties and the loss of two military vehicles.
The western fronts of Taiz also experienced sporadic but escalating clashes, particularly in the vicinity of Mount Han and Al-Dhabab. These hostilities further extended to the Asifra area north of the city and various other frontlines surrounding the urban center. Military officials noted that the intensity of the skirmishes fluctuated throughout the day as both sides engaged in localized combat.
In a coordinated effort, government aircraft conducted five airstrikes against Houthi assets. Two of these strikes targeted a militant training camp in the village of Tabasha, located in the Al-Ashaab region west of Taiz, which the military center described as a hub for training and staging attacks against the city. Two additional strikes hit gatherings and equipment in the Al-Dhabab area, one of which destroyed a vehicle carrying a Houthi commander.
Beyond the aerial campaign, the military utilized drones and artillery to conduct precision strikes against Houthi concentrations and weapon caches. The cumulative result of these operations, according to the military media center, has significantly degraded the militants' operational capacity in the region, accounting for the 38 casualties and the loss of critical military hardware.
