Yemeni Government Forces Secure New Positions in Taiz Province
Yemeni government forces, supported by the Popular Resistance, successfully recaptured strategic positions in the Al-Aqdroud region south of Taiz following intense clashes with Houthi militia fighters on Monday.
Military officials from the Taiz axis confirmed that the operation resulted in the liberation of the Nuba, Thaib, and Tabat Mubarak sectors. The offensive was launched as part of ongoing efforts to push back militia forces and reclaim territory in the volatile southern region of the province.
According to field reports, the fierce confrontation inflicted significant casualties on the Houthi ranks, with dozens of fighters killed or wounded during the engagement. The government forces continue to maintain their foothold in the newly secured areas as they consolidate defensive positions.
The situation in Taiz remains precarious, as the region has endured a prolonged humanitarian crisis exacerbated by persistent conflict. Recent data indicates that Houthi-led military actions, including shelling and the use of landmines, have resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties and mass displacement, further destabilizing the local infrastructure and security landscape.
