Houthi Drone Strike Kills Ambulance Driver and Injures Medic in Taiz

An ambulance driver was killed and a medical doctor sustained critical injuries on Tuesday after a Houthi drone struck their vehicle in the Sabr district of Taiz, Yemen, while they were transporting a civilian wounded by mortar fire.

Local sources reported that the ambulance was in the process of evacuating a woman who had suffered a penetrating chest wound from a Houthi mortar attack on her home. The drone strike occurred while the medical team was attempting to transport the patient to a hospital for emergency treatment.

The targeted attack on a vehicle engaged in a humanitarian mission highlights the escalating risks faced by medical personnel and civilians in Taiz. This incident underscores the precarious conditions under which relief operations are conducted as Houthi forces continue their persistent bombardment of residential areas within the governorate.

In a separate but related development, eight civilians—including three women and three children—were wounded in a heavy artillery and rocket barrage launched by Houthi forces against the Sina and Asifirah neighborhoods in central Taiz. Local observers have described the intensity of the assault as a massacre, signaling a significant deterioration in the security situation.

The ongoing violence in Taiz has prompted widespread concern regarding the safety of the civilian population. As the frequency of attacks on residential zones increases, the ability of medical and humanitarian organizations to provide essential services to those caught in the conflict remains severely compromised.
