Close Associate of Abdulkhaliq al-Houthi Killed in Airstrike in Saada

Faras Mohammed Mohammed al-Hamdani, an individual identified as a close associate and personal security detail for Abdulkhaliq al-Houthi, the brother of the Houthi militia leader, has been killed in an airstrike targeting a military site in the Saada governorate of northern Yemen.

The Houthi militia officially acknowledged al-Hamdani’s death on Thursday, August 28, confirming he was killed on the front lines of the Razih district in western Saada. While the group released his photograph among other casualties, they provided no specific details regarding the circumstances of the strike or the nature of his mission in the area.

Local sources reported that al-Hamdani, also known as "Abu Younis," was killed during an aerial bombardment of a military installation. Reports indicate he was a trusted member of Abdulkhaliq al-Houthi’s inner circle, frequently serving as both a bodyguard and a personal driver for the high-ranking commander.

The death of al-Hamdani follows the recent killing of Hussein al-Hatafi, who reportedly led the security detail for Abdulkhaliq al-Houthi. These consecutive losses suggest a significant erosion of the security apparatus surrounding the militia leader’s brother.

These incidents highlight the increasing pressure on the inner circles of prominent Houthi leadership as their operatives face continued strikes along the Saada front. Despite the tactical significance of these losses, the militia continues to withhold information regarding the specific operational roles and responsibilities held by these individuals at the time of their deaths.
