Elderly Displaced Woman Dies of Hunger and Illness in Yemen Camp
An elderly displaced woman has died in a displacement camp in the Abs district of Hajjah Governorate, northwestern Yemen, due to deteriorating health conditions exacerbated by hunger and illness. This incident highlights the severe humanitarian suffering endured by displaced populations amid difficult living conditions.
Social activist Issa Al-Raji stated that the deceased woman was the wife of the late Abdullah Abdo Mustabani, known as "Abu Hashem." She passed away within the same camp only weeks after her husband, succumbing to harsh health and living circumstances.
Al-Raji explained in a Facebook post that the woman's health rapidly declined due to a lack of food and absence of medical care. He noted that this event reflects a tragic reality that is repeated for thousands of displaced individuals in the region.
He further indicated that many displaced families in the Abs camps are living under extremely difficult humanitarian conditions. This is compounded by a decline in relief aid and a lack of basic necessities within the camps, further worsening the humanitarian crisis in Hajjah Governorate.
