Attack in Aden Kills Syrian Doctor, Wife, and Soldier; Conflicting Reports Emerge on Assailant's Fate
A Syrian soldier, a doctor and his wife were killed, and several citizens and security personnel were injured, in an armed attack in Aden's Al-Mansoura district on Thursday evening.
Local sources reported that a guard accompanying the governor of Aden indiscriminately opened fire on a force tasked with securing the residence of the Minister of State and Governor of the capital, Abdulrahman Sheikh. The incident resulted in the immediate death of soldier Ahmed Al-Battani and injuries to several of his colleagues.
According to the sources, the intense gunfire also led to the deaths of Syrian doctor Sameh Ahmed Ahsan and his wife, a doctor, who happened to be passing by the vicinity of the incident when it erupted. The attack's scope extended to include other casualties among security forces present at the scene, including a severe injury to a guard at the Sahaba Mosque, who was taken to intensive care. Several members of the Darain police and forces guarding facilities and national security were also wounded. Security agencies imposed a tight cordon around the area.
The Aden Security Directorate stated that security forces immediately initiated pursuit and tracking operations for the suspect. They subsequently managed to confront and neutralize the individual after surrounding his location, resulting in his death at the scene. One national security soldier was injured during the operation. Conversely, the official page of the local authority for Aden Governorate presented a conflicting account, asserting that the assailant had escaped.
