Yemeni Government Airstrikes Target Houthi Positions in Mocha, Resulting in Heavy Casualties

Yemeni government forces conducted a series of precision airstrikes against Houthi military positions in and around the coastal city of Mocha on Friday, resulting in the destruction of significant weaponry and armored vehicles, while medical reports confirmed 43 fatalities among the militia ranks.

The Yemeni Armed Forces Media Center reported that the aerial campaign targeted five strategic locations, including sites within the city and along the supply route connecting Mocha to Dhubab. Among the primary targets was a gathering near the Mocha port, where strikes reportedly obliterated Houthi armaments and personnel stationed at the site. Additional operations hit militia concentrations near the Zeid Al-Kharj mall and the municipal water project facility.

Operations extended beyond the city limits, with strikes hitting a cluster of Houthi vehicles and fighters in the animal quarantine zone, approximately 11 kilometers from Mocha, as well as a former military headquarters in the northern sector of the city. These strikes are part of a broader effort by the Yemeni government to regain tactical momentum and neutralize threats posed by the militia to the Red Sea coastline.

In the aftermath of the bombardment, medical sources in Hodeidah confirmed that 43 bodies of Houthi fighters were transported to Bajil Hospital. These casualties are attributed to the intensive air operations conducted throughout the day along the western coast.

The escalation in the Mocha and Dhubab regions carries significant geopolitical weight due to their proximity to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a critical maritime artery for global trade and energy transit. The Yemeni government maintains that these military operations are essential to securing the coastline and mitigating the risks posed by Houthi activities to international navigation and regional stability.
