Ghayal, Yemen: Tribal Clashes with Houthi Militia Leave One Dead, Two Injured

One tribal member was killed and two others were injured on Sunday in renewed clashes between local tribes and Houthi militia forces in the Al-Qaif area, west of Al-Yatmah in the Khabb wa Ash-Sha'af district of Yemen's Al-Jawf province. This incident marks a continuation of escalating tensions in the region for the second consecutive day.

Tribal sources identified the deceased as Abdullah Masoud bin Zab'a, with two other tribesmen sustaining injuries during the confrontations at the militia's Al-Qarn checkpoint. The sources also reported casualties among the Houthi militia ranks and indicated that intermittent clashes persist between tribal groups and the militia in the area.

This escalation follows a separate incident on Saturday where three members of the Al-Juaid tribe, part of the Daham tribes, were killed and two others wounded by fire from a Houthi checkpoint in the Al-Muhiir area. This event occurred just hours after two Houthi militia members were killed at another checkpoint in the same district, triggering widespread tribal confrontations whose repercussions are ongoing.

In response to the escalating violence and what they described as Houthi militia "violations," activists have called for unity among the Daham tribes and all tribes in Al-Jawf. They emphasized that the continued targeting of tribes individually necessitates a unified tribal stance to halt the repeated aggressions.
