Houthi Militiamen Storm Home, Assault Citizen in Ibb

Houthi militiamen forcibly entered a citizen's home in Ibb province, assaulting and abducting him after expelling his family. The incident occurred in the village of Tanbah, Bani Omar district, Ibb governorate.

Local sources reported that a group led by a figure identified as "Thul-Fiqar Al-Ayan," allegedly posing as a Houthi security supervisor, surrounded the home of Hilal Al-Barashi overnight. As Al-Barashi attempted to start his vehicle in the morning, armed individuals opened fire, forcing him to seek refuge in a neighbor's house.

Following Al-Barashi's escape, the Houthi elements raided his residence, forcefully removing women and children at gunpoint before sealing the property. They then pursued Al-Barashi to his neighbor's home, where they subjected him to a severe beating before abducting him. He was reportedly taken to the residence of Mohammed Ali Saleh Al-Ayan and later released.

Sources indicate that the assault stemmed from a family dispute. The opposing party allegedly bribed Al-Ayan, the Houthi supervisor, to use his security influence and weaponry to intimidate and settle personal scores against Al-Barashi.

Recent times have seen an escalation in violations and grave assaults by Houthi militia supervisors against citizens in Ibb province. The militia's security and military positions have reportedly been exploited for extortion, settling personal grievances, and illicit financial gains, with a notable absence of legal protections for civilians against such abuses.
