Houthi Offensive Repelled by Resistance Forces in Taiz as Military Buildup Continues
Resistance forces in the Sabr al-Mawadim and Al-Masrakh districts of Taiz successfully repelled a multi-pronged Houthi offensive on Tuesday, following a significant escalation in military activity and ongoing reinforcements by the militia.
Field sources confirmed that Houthi militants launched coordinated attacks across four axes against resistance positions in Dhahih Kahlan, Al-Najada, Al-Awawat, and Anbiyan. The offensive, supported by heavy artillery fire, aimed to seize control of the strategically significant Dhahih mountain peak and the village of Kahlan. Resistance fighters, having monitored the buildup of Houthi forces and infiltration attempts originating from the militia-controlled villages of Arsh, Al-Naqil, and Al-Mu'ayna, successfully repelled the advance and forced the attackers to retreat after intense combat.
The escalation has exacted a severe toll on the civilian population in the region. Reports indicate that an 18-year-old woman and a local man named Mohammed Mahyoub were killed, while several children sustained injuries due to indiscriminate shelling and sniper fire. Further reports confirmed that two women were targeted by snipers, with local efforts to evacuate them to medical facilities hindered by the ongoing hostilities. Mediation attempts by local women from Al-Akama village to facilitate the rescue of the wounded have thus far failed to secure a cessation of fire.
Military activity remains high as Houthi reinforcements, including armored vehicles, continue to arrive in the Al-Kharisha and Al-Akama areas. Resistance forces remain in a state of high alert, maintaining surveillance of Houthi movements and countering persistent infiltration attempts within the mountainous terrain. These tactical maneuvers appear intended to pressure resistance positions and secure supply routes toward Mashra'a and Hadnan.
The situation in the Sabr front remains volatile as the Houthi militia continues to mobilize personnel and equipment. With multiple fronts active and reinforced, local observers warn that the risk of renewed, large-scale confrontations remains high in the coming hours as the militia persists in its efforts to gain ground in the rural districts of Taiz.
