Yemeni Government Forces Advance in Taiz as Houthi Militants Sabotage Strategic Infrastructure
Yemeni government forces, supported by popular resistance units, have recaptured several villages and strategic areas in the southwestern province of Taiz following intense clashes with Houthi militants.
Local sources confirmed that the army successfully regained control over the villages of Al-Sarari and the Sanamat area in the Al-Masrakh district. The military engagement resulted in numerous casualties among the Houthi ranks, with government forces continuing their tactical advancement toward the village of Anbiyan.
In a tactical move to obstruct supply lines, local residents reported that Houthi militants detonated a bridge along the Hayjat al-Abd road. This route serves as a critical artery connecting Taiz province to the governorates of Lahj and Aden, and its destruction is expected to severely impact the movement of goods and civilians.
This escalation follows a series of defensive operations by the Taiz military axis. On Saturday, government forces and popular resistance fighters successfully repelled a significant Houthi offensive on the Al-Shaqab front, located at the southern gateway to Taiz city, after several hours of heavy combat.
