USAID Calls Houthis for Release of U.S. Employed Staff in Yemen

USAID Today called again on the Houthis to release its detained U.S.-employed Yemeni staff immediately.

For the past year, the Houthis have detained current and former U.S. employees and UN staff, most of whom have been unable to contact their families. Their continued detention is inexcusable.

The U.S. Agency for International Development and our staff are dedicated to improving the lives of the Yemeni people. The Houthis’ continued detention of these individuals sends a concerning signal about their commitment to peace. The Houthis should release our Yemeni colleagues immediately and unconditionally.
