Houthi Missile Attacks on Marib and Taiz Result in Civilian Casualties

Houthi militia forces launched a series of indiscriminate missile and drone attacks on civilian areas and displacement camps across Yemen on Monday, resulting in the deaths of two children and leaving at least 15 others wounded, including eight minors.

According to human rights sources, the escalation began when a ballistic missile struck a displacement camp in the Asdas area of Raghwan district, located in northern Marib. The strike claimed the lives of a seven-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl, while injuring 15 other individuals. Emergency teams were deployed to the site to transport the wounded to medical facilities for urgent care.

The violence extended to the West Coast, where the militia targeted the city of Mocha with a ballistic missile that landed in close proximity to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). This attack, along with a drone strike on civilian vehicles in the Al-Wazi'iyah district of Taiz, represents a significant escalation that threatens the safety of non-combatants and essential infrastructure.

Further reports from Taiz indicate that a separate shelling incident in the Al-Rawda neighborhood resulted in injuries to a woman and her daughter. Local observers characterize these attacks as a deliberate retaliatory strategy employed by the Houthi militia following recent territorial losses sustained during ongoing combat operations against the Yemeni Armed Forces across five governorates.

International humanitarian organizations have consistently condemned these actions as flagrant violations of international law. The surge in violence comes amid rapidly evolving frontline dynamics, with the militia appearing to focus its military resources on civilian population centers as a response to tactical setbacks on the battlefield.
