Yemen’s National Defense Council Declares General Mobilization and Issues Security Warnings

Yemen's National Defense Council has formally approved executive measures for general mobilization while issuing a critical warning to civilians residing in Houthi-controlled territories to avoid proximity to militia military installations, including weapon depots, missile launch sites, and supply lines.

During a session held on Tuesday, the Council solidified the framework for national mobilization, emphasizing the need for a structured and institutionalized implementation in accordance with the constitution and national law. The Council expressed appreciation for the Parliament’s support of the mobilization declaration, which coincides with escalating military confrontations across several active fronts in the country.

The Council commended the operational efficiency and resilience of the armed forces, military formations, and popular resistance groups, noting their success in regaining the initiative and inflicting significant losses on Houthi forces. Officials reiterated that the state remains committed to its constitutional duty to protect citizens, deter threats, and restore institutional control over all Yemeni territory.

A primary concern addressed by the Council involves the Houthi militia’s deployment of advanced military technologies, including air defense systems and cruise missiles. The Council warned that such actions pose a grave threat to regional and international air navigation, endangering civilian aircraft and humanitarian relief flights. Consequently, the government has called for an urgent international response to halt the illicit flow of weapons and military expertise to the militia.

To ensure civilian safety, the Council urged residents in Houthi-held areas to report any military movements or new installations to official channels. The government emphasized that protecting civilians remains a paramount obligation, pledging to maintain coordinated efforts between military, security, and humanitarian agencies to provide support to displaced persons and families affected by the conflict.
